Increased interest in wood construction

Wooden construction has existed in Poland for centuries. Examples of wooden objects from years ago can be found in almost every village, in every town. However, the greatest development of wooden construction in our country took place at the beginning of the nineties of the last century, when Poles coming from the USA began to return from emigration, Canada, German, Austria or Scandinavian countries where wooden construction is very popular. Economic transformations, which took place in the past years, development of trade, new technologies and building materials, also contributed to the growing popularity of wooden construction.
The number of contractors, wood construction specialists, it is difficult to define exactly. From the data held by Centrum Budownictwa Skeletowego it appears, that there are approx 250 companies implementing light frame construction, ok. 30 companies implementing prefabricated houses, the so-called. houses ready and over 100 companies building log houses. However, in the number of companies building log houses, one should distinguish between solid log houses, insulated logs, tj. logs requiring thermal insulation, as well as layered logs. Almost all companies make turnkey houses”, in line with the current trend. Few companies operate on the principles of development. Most build on individual orders. The construction of buildings is made of domestic materials, however, each year several houses are built from materials imported from Canada, Of the United States, Sweden or Germany. Poland's accession to the European Union undoubtedly strengthened the wooden construction in our country. In European countries, this construction enjoys a growing interest and is average 25-30% single-family housing.
