Brush painting
Large surfaces of walls or ceilings are nowadays painted with a roller. The bench brush is still used as well. If we paint with paints, then we should use it primarily for washing walls or priming. The bench brush is a fairly expensive tool. So let's take care of him: wash thoroughly after finishing work and store in a hanging position, preferably wrapped in a foil bag. Thanks to this, we will not allow the wood to dry out excessively, in which the bristles are framed, thus, we protect the brush against falling out.
Smaller areas of walls and ceilings, as well as joinery, can be painted with flat brushes of different widths. When buying one, it is worth checking its quality. The test consists in resting the bristles on a flat surface and pressing it lightly. In a good brush, it will bend resiliently, but will remain compact. In the wrong, it will split in various random directions.
Before high-quality painting, flat brush, same as the bench, it is worth using in advance for priming or painting not very responsible. Before using it properly, drag the flat brush several times in your hand; this will allow you to vacuum it and allow the proper positioning of the bristles.
When painting, the bristles are always immersed only to 1/3 its length. This will prevent paint from dripping onto the shaft, which could happen especially then, when the brush is raised. Remove the excess paint after dipping the bristles, by dragging the brush along the side of the vessel. However, it is better to tie a suitably tight string or wire there. By rubbing the bristles of the brush against it, we will remove the excess paint. Only in this state we transfer it to the wall and spread the paint.
If we are painting larger surfaces of the walls, we run the brush first with horizontal strokes, which are to ensure even and even distribution of paint on the surface. Only then should we finally smooth the coating with vertical strokes.
