What is troubling Polish wooden construction

If you want to persuade you to choose this technology, it may not be appropriate to write about the problems. However, it is worth saying, that they are not limiting and should be believed, that along with the further development of this technology in Poland, the issues listed below will soon not be an obstacle for investors or contractors of wooden houses. Order, in which the problems below were mentioned, is not equivalent to their weight.

■ “Barriera mentalna” – most Poles doubt, that a house with a wooden structure can be durable for many years (no examples in Poland). It is commonly believed, that the house should be like a "fortress” built on 100 Whether 200 lat, although the styles and architectural and technological possibilities may change during this time.

■ Lack of information in construction schools on wooden construction. Only a few technical schools and universities treat wooden construction as a proven technology. At many universities, it is still treated as a "construction curiosity."”.

■ Lack of thorough knowledge and experience among many people professionally involved in wooden construction – this causes problems both in the design phase and during construction. For many architects, contracting companies, or people from construction supervision, construction of a "wooden house” is limited to the installation of a wooden structure, without going into all the issues of this technology. Moisture matters–thermal or building acoustics problems, they are completely alien to them.

■ Lack of national technical and assembly requirements for the execution and acceptance of works, yes for buildings erected with a light frame structure, or prefabricated houses, and for log houses. Although work is currently underway to develop the necessary requirements.

■ Lack of programs supporting the design of wooden houses. However, more and more ready-made wooden house designs are already available on the market. Also, most contractors offer their own design services and redesign a traditional house project into a wooden house.

Wooden construction is developing very quickly in Poland. This is evidenced by the increasing number of contractors, which do not complain about the lack of orders and the increase in the number of wooden houses being built.
Compared to the 1990s, there has been a significant improvement in the build quality. Not only the companies themselves, in caring for their position on the market and their own reputation, train their employees and observe the technological regime, but it was also forced thanks to the activities of the "Wooden House”, which has developed implementing requirements for its members. Scientific and certification institutions, seeing the growing role of wooden construction, also contribute to forcing better quality by developing standards, which are to apply in Poland. Membership is required by this obligation 7 in the European Union. Activities of organizations promoting wooden construction, the support of the media and specialized research centers not only accelerates the development of wooden construction, justifying its permanent place on our market,
but also contributes to the care for the quality of workmanship and allows you to verify the selection.
